The Antifederalist is truth-seeking. Interested in tradition and maintaining it, the Antifederalist believes the past speaks and is determinant. It’s as simple as a mathematical equation. They work in real numbers and solving for “x” always results in only one real answer.
The Antifederalist studies history for guidance in seeking evidence and proof. When the absolute truth is revealed, they’ll use it to judge and use their words to share their logical conclusions.
A proposal without precedent and qualifying evidence is folly. For the Antifederalist, there is nothing new…or shouldn’t be!
In my opinion, there is a film which frames each p.o.v. nicely: The Truman Show.
Truman is the ultimate federalist in that he thinks outside of the boxes into which he’s confined. He dreams. He believes in his own powers and freedoms, then acts upon them. He looks behind the curtain and doesn’t just close it again.
He’s offered the ultimate temptation: complete safety, with everything he could ever want. And he peels open this known and walks away from it.
To continue w/ Shellee’s analogy, the trouble with solving for x and finding only one real-number answer is that many of life’s issues have more than one dimension; in other words, if x is a root of x-squared, it automatically has 2 answers!

Anti-federalists are cautious, sometimes scared. They contain an element of THE END IS NIGH.
Ironically, they not only fear the energy of government, but also the energy of the people.
Safety takes precedent over freedom.
